Thank you for this, Anisha. I also lost a beloved uncle in 2021 -- it wasn't Covid, but because of Covid isolation, the family missed all signs of his cancer and he passed before I could see him again. That is also the grief of Covid: the time we lost with loved ones, when we didn't know their time would be so short. This is a beautiful tribute to your special uncle, but also ALL uncles, who can be that silly, caring, constant presence in our lives. Sending love!

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, Anjali. Covid really presented multiple awful ways to lose someone. Thank you for your words!

What an incredible tribute. I am so sorry for the absence in your life and your inbox and your future but know how powerful it can be to have those memories and messages for reflection. Writing is our catharsis just as much as food. We will continue to take necessary precautions and discuss the pandemic seriously. We will hold your grief even as the rest of the world moves on.

Thank you for your thoughtful words Kayla. I definitely felt like so many emotions I hadn't fully processed were unleashed as I wrote this.
