Didn’t know some of the history thanks for sharing! Definitely agree that it feels like a museum.

Holy moly, I had no idea this existed...and yet...it makes sense, and then doesn't make sense, and then I read your takes and the origins, and it makes sense again...and then I think about LA and it all makes non-sense and more sense...full circle.

Thank you for this thoughtful, nuanced, and amusing post! My favorite thing to do while traveling is to spend time wandering the aisles of local grocery stores, so this look at Erewhon really hit the spot for me. A little armchair travel with a dose of social commentary--love everything about that!

It never fails to amaze me how much a grocery store says about a place! Though in Erewhon's case, the store only speaks for a minority of the population but still, it's part of the glamor expected by those who associate LA with Hollywood and while LA is more than just Hollywood, Hollywood is still a significant part of LA's public perception and alas, that's where Erewhon's existence makes sense!

Wow, what adventure, seems to be always quite fun to read about Erewhon and what it really offers, how and especially why. Thank you.

Erewhon is the gift which keeps giving in terms of multimedial coverage and yes, that includes total enjoyness too, plus it's a subject that draws together or eventually divides, not only the afficionados, but more curious, but simple readers too.

Personally love articles about how the other side influences, shops and shapes trends, pioneers are quite welcome in positive terms, albeit Erewhon is definitely a pioneer, but more for a selected public or for tourists who want to have a look what's the hype about, but is it worth the $200 USD peanut butter sandwich...haha, but it's still fun in many ways, as long it's clean, good, healthy and naturally yummy 🤤

Many thanks for your inspiration.
